Duterte appoints a Palace official to lead the COA.
MANILA, Philippines — Rizalina Justol has been named the next chairman of the Commission on Audit by President Rodrigo Duterte (COA).
On Friday, Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles made the announcement, stating that President Trump had signed Justol’s appointment paper on February 17.
In a Palace conference, Nograles said, “We wish Chairperson Justol luck in COA and assure her that the government will always be supportive of COA’s efforts to guarantee openness and accountability in the use of government funds.”
Justol was previously the Deputy Executive Secretary for Finance and Administration in the White House Office of the President. During Duterte’s stint as mayor of Davao, she also worked as the city’s accountant.
Justol will take over as COA chief for a seven-year term, succeeding Michael Aguinaldo, whose term expired on February 2.
