DPWH (AYUDA) Program has assisted over 900 people in Metro Manila.

The government stated in a statement on Thursday that 947 adolescents and family heads were given temporary jobs for two months.

From November to December, they were paid PHP503 per day.

It went on to say that there had been calls to prolong the job program till next year.

The beneficiaries, who were displaced by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic and out-of-school youngsters, were employed to perform road maintenance tasks such as street sweeping, sign cleaning, rubbish hauling, and concrete barrier painting.

Secretary Roger Mercado also developed the AYUDA program to assist workers in recovering from the impacts of Covid-19 while also contributing to the construction of public infrastructure around the country.

In the meantime, he continues to promote his campaign to clean up and green the National Capital Region (NCR).

According to Mercado, the initiative to rejuvenate the central island of roadways, along with a policy to inculcate a cleanliness discipline, will result in a healthier Metropolis, with Metro Manila serving as the country’s main entrance.

Several tarpaulin posters with the words “Let’s Help Keep NCR Clean and Green” were strategically placed on major roadways in Metro Manila to encourage people to participate in “clean and green” programs and raise awareness of the campaign.
