The rate of NCR positive has dropped to 4.9 percent, according to the OCTA.
MANILA, Philippines — According to the OCTA Research Group, the coronavirus positive rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) has dropped to 4.9 percent for the first time since December 26, 2021.
Prior to the Omicron variant wave, OCTA Research fellow Guido David tweeted that NCR’s positivity rate, or the number of people who test positive for Covid-19 in a given area, is lower than the World Health Organization’s recommended 5 percent standard.
“As of February 21, 2022, NCR remained at low risk (for Covid-19), with an average daily attack rate of 2.85 percent, a reproduction number of 0.21, extremely low, and a healthcare usage rate of 25 percent, very low,” David added.
The growth rate in the region is -28 percent.
The provinces of Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal, which border Quezon, remained at low risk for Covid-19, whereas Quezon improved to very low risk.
Batangas has a positivity rate of 6%, Cavite has a rate of 9%, Laguna has a rate of 6%, Rizal has a rate of 7%, and Quezon has a rate of 3%.
The country’s overall number of new coronavirus cases has decreased, with 1,427 infections recorded on February 21.
So far this year, the country has seen the lowest number of daily infections.
