Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano of Pasay City has been diagnosed with coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and is being treated in isolation, according to the city’s public information office (PIO).

According to Rubiano’s chief of staff, Peter Eric Pardo, the Pasay mayor has been feeling “unwell” and has had a sore throat since Saturday.

Rubiano was tested for the coronavirus right away using a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).

In February 2021, the mayor of Pasay became ill for the first time.

While she heals from reinfection, she promised her constituents that she will continue to perform her duties as local chief executive.

Rubiano will only attend online meetings while in isolation, according to Pardo.

On Sunday, the city’s PIO documented 67 new infections, bringing the total number of active Covid-19 cases in Pasay to 214, or 0.96 percent of the city’s total of 22,292 cases since the pandemic began in March 2020.

On Sunday, the Department of Health announced 4,600 new cases, increasing the overall number of active cases in the country to 21,418 (or 97.4% of the total 2,851,931 infections).
