CEBU CITY, Philippines – For its high vaccination rate among older persons, four out of nine local government units (LGUs) in Metro Cebu qualify for de-escalation of quarantine restrictions.

Mandaue and Talisay, as well as Minglanilla and Cordova municipalities, have met the required 68 percent criterion.

Mandaue City had a 91 percent rate, Minglanilla had an 80 percent rate, Talisay City had a 77 percent rate, and Cordova had a 73 percent rate.

“Cebu City has 66.17 percent, so it needs to ramp up vaccination even more to get the remaining 1.83 percent,” said Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, chief pathologist for the Department of Health in Central Visayas, during a press conference at the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center on Monday.

Lapu-Lapu City has a 51 percent approval rating, Naga City and Liloan have a 52 percent approval rating, while Consolacion has a 51 percent approval rating.

Under Alert Level 1, indoor and outdoor activities are permitted to fill to capacity, and everyone, regardless of age or comorbidities, is permitted to travel intrazonally and interzonally in accordance with basic public health norms.

Bohol, Cebu Province, Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and Negros Oriental are all in Region 7 and are on Alert Level 2 till March 15.
