The guessing game regarding PRRD’s chosen nominee continues.

MANILA, Philippines β€” Martin Andanar, the acting presidential spokesperson and Communications Secretary, emphasized on Friday that his recent statement on the presidential candidate who would receive support from President Rodrigo Duterte was based on his instincts.

Andanar clarified his remarks after implying in an interview with a news website channel that a presidential candidate whose name begins with the letter “O” would have Duterte’s support.

“Iyong istorya talagang lumaki iyong talagang lumaki iyong talagang lumaki (That became big news). That was another one of the quick-fire questions. As a result, I had no idea what questions would be asked. In an interview with CNN Philippines’ “The Source,” Andanar said, “I just need to trust my feelings on which letter I should mention.”

Vice President Leni Robredo, Senators Panfilo Lacson and Manny Pacquiao, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, former presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella, former national security adviser Norberto Gonzales, labor leader Leody de Guzman, Lanao del Sur businessman Faisal Mangondato, and Dr. Jose Montemayor Jr. are the ten candidates running for president

“The remark there wasn’t made by the President. “I was the only one who did it,” Andanar explained.

It’s still “impossible” to predict if Duterte will support a presidential contender, according to Andanar.

“The President keeps his cards close to his breast, so no one can see them.” “We’ve had the President for five years and seven months, and he does it on a regular basis,” Andanar remarked.

“He has his own playbook, which is constantly evolving. It’s really difficult to grab him, even if you’re close by,” he continued.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, who ultimately withdrew from the presidential race, had previously received Duterte’s support.

On March 4, Duterte addressed the gathering during the inauguration of a farmers’ market in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, to vote for the Ilocano leader of their choice.

Several of Duterte’s Ilocano Cabinet colleagues are running for the Senate, with Marcos being the only Ilocano seeking for the highest office.
