MANILA, Philippines — The “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-Asa (BP2)” program, which assists distressed families in Metro Manila return to the provinces with livelihood and financial packages, has welcomed a new batch of beneficiaries.

On Tuesday morning, a total of 37 people will be dispatched to Masbate, the third batch of dispatches this year.

Two older individuals and 18 kids, ranging in age from 8 months to 14 years, are among the recipients.

Vanessa Pedroza, 36, registered for the BP2 program in October of last year and was on the verge of giving up hope.

“Umuwi ako sa kapatid ko noon sa Rizal nung biglang may tumawag sa akin na taga-Balik Probinsya, nung biglang may tumawag sa akin na taga-Balik Probinsya, nung biglang may tumawag sa akin na taga-Balik Tuwang tuwa bumalik agad ako dito sa Quezon City para sabihin ko sa asawa ko at pag-usapan namin,” she told the Philippine News Agency on Monday.

“Salamat sa BP2 (Thank you very much for your support of the BP2 program),” she added.

In January, a spike in coronavirus disease 2019 cases prevented the distribution of benefits.

Beneficiaries returned to the Bicol Region this month, including Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, and Naga.

The BP2 program has dispatches planned for Zambales, Cotabato, General Santos, Saranggani, Cotabato, and Sultan Kudarat in March.
