Marcos will not participate in the Comelec debate, according to Uniteam.

MANILA – Presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will not participate in the Commission on Elections’ presidential debate (Comelec).

Marcos’ chief of staff and spokeswoman, lawyer Vic Rodriguez, confirmed the camp’s absence from Saturday’s presidential debate in a statement released on Monday.

“We will honor our vow to our supporters to be with them on the field on this day,” Rodriguez stated, adding that “Presidential frontrunner Bongbong Marcos’ words are his bond.”

Rodriguez stated that they will continue to campaign on the ground.

“We will continue with our preferred way of direct engagement with the people and engage them in a more personal face-to-face interaction that discusses genuine issues that touch them today, tomorrow, and in the days ahead,” he said.

Senator Imee Marcos recommended her brother to participate in the presidential debate to respond to “all” of the criticisms, according to a radio interview with DWIZ on Saturday.

“Respond to all of their criticisms. After all, we’ve dealt with all of our cases. We respond to any criticisms. “He’ll be able to accomplish that in no time,” she remarked.

Comelec announced on Sunday that six presidential candidates, including former presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella, Labor leader Leody de Guzman, Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, Senator Manny Pacquiao, and former Defense Secretary Norberto Gonzales, have already submitted written confirmation that they will participate in the PiliPinas Debate.

Meanwhile, Vice President Leni Robredo, businessman Faisal Mangondato, and lawyer/doctoral candidate Jose Montemayor have all stated that they will attend the discussion.
