DTI is looking towards releasing a new SRP list.

MANILA, Philippines β€” The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is still considering modifying the most recent suggested retail price (SRP) list to account for the effects of rising oil prices on basic and premium goods expenses.

DTI Assistant Secretary for Consumer Protection Group Ann Claire Cabochan said during the Laging Handa public briefing on Thursday that some manufacturers have already requested price increases for certain products, but the agency must carefully consider issuing a new pricing bulletin.

“So, we’ll see if the suggested increase is reasonable,” Cabochan said.

Last January 27, the DTI published the most recent SRP list, which updated the price bulletin from August 29, 2021.

In the latest SRP list, 73 shelf keeping units (SKUs) have increased their pricing.

“Kami po sa DTI ay mayroong polisiya, and we have this cooperation with manufacturers of these essential necessities and core goods,” said the spokesperson. If iyong kanilang hinihingi na price adjustment ay mas mataas ng 10% sa presyo noong nakaraang bulletin po ay pinapakiusapan po natin iyan na i-stagger po iyong increase If the price adjustment requested is greater than 10% of the previous bulletin’s price, we request a staggered rise),” she continued.

According to Cabochan, the impact of increasing oil prices will not be seen immediately because manufacturers and retailers already have inventory of raw materials and inputs before the Ukraine crisis.
