In 2022, PH expects $5 billion in HIMS revenue, with more US investors.

MANILA, Philippines β€” The hospital information management services (HIMS) sector in the Philippines aims to generate USD5 billion in revenue this year, up from USD3.1 billion in 2021.

Undersecretary Rafaelita Aldaba of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said the Philippines is positioning itself to be Asia’s hub for healthcare business process management (BPM) services during the country’s participation in the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society Conference and Exhibition 2022 (HIMSS22) in Orlando, Florida, which ended Thursday.

For the past ten years, Aldaba claims, the country has attracted over 400 HIMS enterprises, including small and medium-sized businesses.

Optum, Legato, and Adec are among the significant industry players who have invested in the Philippines.

To keep the Philippine HIMS industry growing, she said the country wants to attract more investments in the HIMS sector, particularly from US-based companies that provide high-value services.

“With this transition in the HIMS sector, our capacity grows to support patients throughout their complete healthcare journey, providing complex, digitalized end-to-end customer experience services,” Aldaba added.

The government has been pushing for actions and policies to improve the local HIMS industry, such as the national upskilling and reskilling program, the formation of the Center for AI Research, and the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives (CREATE) law, according to Aladaba.

The Philippines is holding a roadshow in the United States, specifically in Florida, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, through March 26 as part of the Board of Investments’ Make It Happen in the Philippines effort to entice US investors into the HIMS industry.
