In response to Covid-19, the NTF and DILG honored the highest performing LGUs.

MANILA, Philippines β€” In an in-person awards event in Pasay City on Tuesday, the National Task Force (NTF) against the coronavirus illness 2019 and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) acknowledged top-performing local government units (LGUs) in the Covid-19 response.

Notable LGUs were praised for promoting a whole-of-government approach to ensuring a balance between public health and the economy, particularly through the implementation of the Safety Seal Certification Program, VaxCert PH, and the National Vaccination Program.

Among these efforts, DILG Secretary Eduardo Ao emphasized that the issue of safety seals to establishments that comply with public health procedures is significant, given the country’s low Covid-19 categorization level as it prepares for the new normal.

“Truly, its adoption in May 2021 was a game-changer in the quest to live with the virus in our midst,” he stated.

According to Ao, 75,310 safety seals were awarded to businesses and other establishments across the country, with the National Capital Region (NCR) receiving the most.

Quezon City in Metro Manila, Dasmarias in Cavite, San Carlos in Pangasinan, Bambang in Nueva Vizcaya, and Santiago in Ilocos Sur are among the top performing cities in terms of safety seal issuance.

Furthermore, Presidential Adviser for Covid-19 Response Secretary Vince Dizon expressed his gratitude to all participating LGUs, private players, and even the general public for their active participation in the country’s immunization effort.

He claims that more than 140 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been provided across the country, with over 65 million people receiving full vaccinations and about 12 million receiving booster shots.

“We wouldn’t be here today if we hadn’t come together as one; our people wouldn’t be able to go to the mall; businesses wouldn’t be able to recoup their losses; people wouldn’t be working again if it weren’t for everyone here, and the countless others who have helped in their own small way,” Dizon said.

Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, and Cavite had the highest immunization rates.

Meanwhile, Marikina City, Antipolo City, Rizal; San Simon, Pampanga; Iloilo City, Roxas City, Capiz; Caluya, Antique; Davao City; and Malaybalay City and Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon excelled in VaxCertPH use.
