MANILA, Philippines – According to President Rodrigo Duterte, the communist movement has been able to “infiltrate” various political parties led by a presidential aspirant.

The revelation came during Duterte’s prerecorded Talk to the People, which aired Tuesday morning on PTV-4.

While Duterte refused to name a presidential candidate, he stated that the political parties collaborating with communist terrorists are opposition parties.

“At the moment, I am not prepared to name names, but mayroon tayong mga partido (we have parties) led by presidential candidates, but they are also playing into the hands of the communists mismo.” “I believe they have been spied on,” Duterte stated.

He cautioned the public to be wary of a possible communist-opposition coalition.

He issued the warning after admitting to being “concerned” about the opposition’s alleged alliance with the communist party.

“Inuudyok ko lahat na huwag kayong sumali diyan sa mga rebelde na kasabwat ‘yung mga miyembro ng mga political parties sa kabila (I am encouraging everyone not to join rebels who collude with opposition political party members),” he said.

Duterte said in a March 12 taped interview with SMNI that the government is monitoring several opposition members and communist rebels who may be plotting to disrupt the May 9, 2022 national and local elections.

Duterte exposed the alleged “groupings” of communist insurgents and opposition members who wear “Yellow,” the color associated with the opposition Liberal Party, citing an intelligence report.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Communications Secretary Martin Andanar stated Tuesday during a virtual press conference that Duterte will ensure “clean, honest, and credible elections.”

Andanar made the statement following Duterte’s ruling party, the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), formally endorsing former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s presidential bid.
