499 cops from the National Capital Region will participate in a public safety training program.

MANILA, Philippines β€” To boost the region’s police force, around 500 police recruits from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will participate in the Public Safety Field Training Program (PSFTP).

On behalf of NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad, Deputy Regional Director for Administration Brig. Gen. Jon Arnaldo led the send-off ceremony for the 499 newly appointed Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs) of PSFTP Class 2021-01 “Sinaglawin” for their Field Training Exercise to the five police districts of the NCRPO on Monday in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.

The Manila Police District (MPD), Quezon City Police District (QCPD), Northern Police District (NPD), Southern Police District (SPD), and Eastern Police District (EPD) are all part of the NCRPO (EPD).

The PSFTP is a six-month mandatory training program for all police recruits, and it is one of the conditions for maintaining their status since they will put their six-month Public Safety Recruit Course training into practice.

In patrol and traffic first responders, police trainees will be instructed to respond and enforce the law based on actual circumstances during this time.

This will be their first exposure to the police community and genuine police work, according to him.

“As you begin your six-month field training, now is the moment to demonstrate the competency and discipline you gained during your preparation training. In presenting Natividad’s message, Arnaldo said, “I have no faith that you will give meaning to what you are doing and gain wisdom from the experiences you will have.”

The training performance grade will be required in order to obtain permanent status in the PNP.

Meanwhile, 189 PNCOs from NCRPO’s various districts and regional headquarters completed the Field Training Officers Course, which aims to improve the competence and leadership abilities of senior police non-commissioned officers who will supervise the Field Training Exercise of Junior PNCOs who will be deployed in five police districts.

The 12-day Patrol Officers Basic Course was also completed by 99 PNCOs from regional headquarters, five police districts, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion.

The training is designed to refresh and reinvigorate their knowledge and wisdom in community policing and fundamental patrol techniques, which they gained and learnt throughout the second half of the Field Training Program’s Field Training Exercises (FTP)
