PAMPANGA CITY, LUBAO – Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo introduced Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte to the Pampagueos as the “future Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines” a day before her 75th birthday.

The country’s 14th President, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, spent the majority of her childhood in this city, where the UniTeam conducted its rally Monday night.

“Ako’y nasisiyahan na ang ating panauhing pangdangal ay walang iba kundi si Inday Sara Duterte — ang susunod nating bise-presidente sa Republika ng Pilipinas (I’m delighted that our visitor is none other than Inday Sara Duterte – our upcoming vice president of the Republic of the Philippines),

Duterte and Rep. Mikee Arroyo led the gathering in singing the “happy birthday song” to the former president before giving her speech.

“Gini-greet ko po siya ng (I greeted her) a very happy birthday. I wish her good health, her happiness and we wish for her heart’s desire for the next two, three, four, 50 years more,” Duterte said.

There are no political overtones.

She then gave her message to the Pampagueos, imploring them to unite for a better Philippines, regardless of political affiliation.

“Kung kami po ang pipiliin ninyo bilang political leaders ngayong May 9 elections, ay dadalhin namin ang buong sambayanan na walang pong kulay ng politika — hindi po red, hindi green, hindi yellow, hindi pink, hindi orange — isa lang po tayo lahat,” she said. Isang Pilipino, isang bayan na nagkakaisa (If you elect us as political leaders on May 9, we will unite the entire country, regardless of political affiliation – no red, no green, no yellow, no pink, no orange – we are all one). “(There is just one Filipino country that is united),” remarked Duterte.

“‘Yan po ang mensahe ng UniTeam na sama-sama tayong babangon muli,” she continued.

Former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada also called Macapagal-Arroyo to wish her a happy birthday through UniTeam senatorial candidate Jinggoy Estrada.

“Wishing you a very happy birthday, Madam President.” “More power to you, and sana po tumakbo kayo ulit at ako ang mag-presentang campaign manager niyo,” Estrada remarked.

Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Duterte’s presidential running mate, has already won support from the political parties of two former Philippine presidents.

Marcos’ Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), and Macapagal-Lakas-Christian Arroyo’s and Muslim Democrats have signed a “UniTeam alliance agreement” with Estrada’s Partido ng Masang Pilipino (PMP).

The goal of the new coalition is to assure the victory of the UniTeam’s presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Pampanga Governor Dennis “Delta” Garcia Pineda, Vice Governor Lilia “Nany Baby” Pineda, and Lubao Mayor Esmeralda “Esmie” Pineda were also present.

Senatorial hopefuls Herbert Bautista, Jinggoy Estrada, Robin Padilla, Gringo Honasan, Rodante Marcoleta, Mark Villar, Sherwin Gatchalian, Gilbert Teodoro, Larry Gadon, Loren Legarda, and Sal Panelo were also in attendance. Senator Migz Zubiri’s wife Audrey Tan-Zubiri represented him.
