Isko Moreno has pledged to serve Manila till the end of his term.

MANILA — Outgoing Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has pledged to serve his citizens until the end of his term, despite his presidential campaign efforts.

Domagoso added that wherever fate leads him, he will strive to help in whatever way he can.

“As a result, we will continue to improve in our field of endeavor.” In my own small way, with God’s help, pipilitin kong maging masinop, mainam at episyente kayong mapaglingkuran hanggang sa huling araw sa Lungsod ng Maynila (In my own small way, with God’s help, I will try to be more prudent and provide efficient service until my very last day in the City of Manila),” he said at the PeopleAsi

Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, actor John Arcilla, Deputy Speaker and Las Pinas Rep. Camille Villar, and reelectionist Senator Joel Villanueva were among the 14 leaders, achievers, and newsmakers honored during the occasion.

Domagoso expressed gratitude to the magazine for recognizing his “little effort” in boosting Manileos’ quality of life.

The prize, according to Domagoso, will motivate him to improve, accomplish more, and provide true and efficient service.

He thanked his coworkers in government, Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, and the city council for their commitment, hard work, and unwavering support in realizing their ambition of a better Manila.

“‘Yung aming pinangarap together on reconstructing Manila in ten years, notwithstanding the epidemic.” So, possible pala, puwede pala. It’s something I owe to them. Whatever it is that you are naririnig sa Maynila, hindi ko kaya ‘yon ang mag-isa. Despite the pandemic, Nagawa po’yun dala ng pakikipagtulungan ng bawat isa (Our united ambition of rebuilding Manila in ten years came true in two years.) As a result, it’s possible, and I owe it to them. I did not achieve any of our accomplishments in Manila by myself. He said, “We accomplished those together).”

Domagoso also acknowledged and commended fellow city hall employees who risked their lives to ensure that others would survive the pandemic.

He thanked front-line workers who abandoned their families to assist him for three months, with the majority of them refusing to return home because to the panic and dread generated by the Covid-19 outbreak.

“I’m really proud of them, and nawa ang ilan sa kanila,” she says (May they rest in peace). They paid the ultimate price, and I dedicate this award to them and their families, as well as those who died as a result of the illness while performing public service and caring for others,” Domagoso added.

He also dedicated the honor to his late parents, who he said never gave up on him, as well as his wife and children, who he said was always there for him.

Supporters are still present.

Meanwhile, Aksyon Demokratiko dismissed the Ikaw Muna (IM) Pilipinas Visayas chapter’s decision to back Vice President Leni Robredo.

In a television channel interview on Tuesday, IM Pilipinas Visayas chief convenor Nick Malazarte indicated that they are backing Robredo to prevent Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who has consistently led polls, from winning.

In a separate interview on Tuesday, Lito Banayo, campaign strategist for Aksyon Demokratiko, indicated that other groups are still strongly behind Domagoso.

“Unang-una, isang tao lamang ang alam namin nagsalita, si Mr. Malazarte, at meron namang statement ‘yung karamihan nung mga Visayas for Isko, VISA, at mga grupo sa Cebu na dine-deny ‘yung claim ni Mr. Malazarte),” Bana says.

The Aksyon Demokratiko crew will go to Cebu on April 8 and 9, according to Banayo, and will be welcomed by volunteer groups.

He claims that the Robredo campaign’s so-called “unity” is nothing more than a ruse to inflame anti-Marcos sentiments.
