MANILA, Philippines — The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) is bringing its services closer to the public by planning to build a complaint desk inside a mall where citizens may voice their grievances about incompetent government agencies.

ARTA Undersecretary Carlos Quita said the agency would construct the ARTA-SM Action Center after Holy Week during the Kapihan sa ARTA on Tuesday.

The ARTA-SM Action Center, according to Quita, would act as a public assistance desk that will use information technology applications to allow the public to submit questions and complaints to the government.

This action center, he added, is in a high-traffic area that complements other ARTA outposts.

ARTA is increasing its avenues for receiving public complaints and concerns about government red tape.

In Quezon City, the agency opened its first ARTAmbayan Outpost.

It also added e-mail, social media, and cell phone numbers to the government’s Hotline 8888 or Citizens’ Complaint Center as additional complaint channels.
