Lacson claims that guys in uniform are behind his causes.

MANILA, Philippines β€” Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, a presidential candidate, said on Monday that he believes the men in uniform are secretly supporting his causes.

“May mga (There are) those who have retired. For obvious reasons, I’d like to believe di lang sila makalabas (they can’t go out publicly). But I spoke with a number of them, kanina may nakausap akong (a while ago, I spoke with a few generals), and they continue to back my cause. So iyan lang puwede ko sabihin (that’s all I have to say), “Lacson stated in a press conference.

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Lacson’s running mate, is campaigning for a program of good administration and anti-corruption.

“I can’t go any further since they aren’t allowed to campaign. Their sole (political) activity is to vote for their preferred candidates “Added he.

Lacson paid a visit to the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City, on Monday to witness a flag-raising ceremony and the signing of a donation document between the PNP and the PNP Foundation Inc.

Despite requests from some quarters, Lacson has insisted that he will neither withdraw nor drop out of the presidential contest.

“I will not withdraw if they say I will withdraw (if they say I will withdraw). I’m not like that, because when I throw my heart and soul into a crusade, I call it a crusade to further my causes, and that’s it “Added he.

Lacson also revealed that former Quezon City Mayor Brigido “Jun” Simon Jr. met him in Pampanga on March 12 to ask him to drop out of the presidential election.

“He assured me they can persuade Sen. (Kiko) Pangilinan to retire to let Vice President (Leni) Robredo and my running mate, Senate President Tito Sotto, take their place,” he added.

Lacson, on the other hand, claimed to have shut off Simon at that time and notified the former mayor of Quezon City that he would not be resigning.

“But I abruptly cut him off and informed him, ‘I am not withdrawing.’ May usapang lalaki kami ni SP Sotto na magkasama kami all the way’ (I am not withdrawing; I have a gentleman’s agreement with SP Sotto to go all the way) “Added he.

Lacson also claimed to have briefed Simon about two earlier attempts by the Vice President to unite the country, but solely for her own benefit.

He went on to say, “He stopped talking and departed.”

Lacson also said that the former mayor repeatedly requested an appointment, ostensibly in connection with his campaign.

“I didn’t answer since I didn’t know what the agenda was, moreover I didn’t know him well and was busy campaigning. I’ll say it again: I’m not going anywhere. I’ll finish the race even if I’m only left with one leg. I’ll crawl to the finish line even if I’m paralyzed “Added he.
