MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice’s Office of Cybercrime (OOC) announced on Tuesday that it will pursue individuals responsible for the online distribution of a phony sex film of Aika Robredo, Vice President Leni Robredo’s eldest daughter.

Following a Twitter threat on the life of the Vice President’s presidential competitor, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., it is the DOJ’s second high-profile election-related cyber crime under investigation.

On Monday night, links to the 34-year-old Second Daughter’s bogus videos began to circulate.

“Our investigators are on the case. We will recommend it to the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) Cybercrime Division if additional investigation is required “Charito Zamora, the OOC Officer-in-Charge, said to the reporters via text message.

Lawyer Barry Gutierrez, Robredo’s spokesman, called for an official response to the recordings and stated that charges against the perpetrators are being considered.

The Vice President’s campaign also urged the public to refrain from sharing and reporting the footage.

Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas counseled the younger Robredo not to be disturbed by the attack.

“Don’t be bothered by the lies. We all know the truth about your life of decency, humility, service, and knowledge. On Monday, Villegas wrote on Facebook, “Only liars believe their own kind.”

Michael Go, the delivery rider who threatened to kill Marcos, had already been apprehended. It was suggested that a bail of PHP72,000 be set.
