MANILA – The Philippines has fully immunized 66,652,616 people against Covid-19, with 12,477,480 receiving booster or extra injections.

According to the most recent figures from the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19, a total of 5,165,927 people are waiting for their second dosage, while 9,901,584 people aged 12 to 17 and 2,478,590 people aged 5 to 11 have received at least one dose.

In a late Monday night report to President Rodrigo Duterte, NTF chief Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. claimed vaccination has slowed in recent months, owing primarily to the election season, which diverted local government units (LGUs) attention away from religious festivals.

He claims that the 18 to 59 age range has “quite high vaccination coverage,” with about 80% of completely vaccinated people aged 60 and up.

According to Galvez, the government is now stepping up efforts to offer booster shots to at least 40 million people, speed up the delivery of second doses to 11.5 million children, and properly vaccinate the remaining 20% of 1.8 million senior individuals.

He reiterated that there is sufficient vaccine supply for all sectors.
