The IATF has adopted a 10-point plan for economic recovery.

MANILA, Philippines β€” The 10-point policy plan for the country’s economic recovery from the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic has been adopted by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), Malacanang announced Wednesday.

According to acting Presidential Spokesperson, Communication Secretary Martin Andanar, the 10-point policy agenda agreed by the IATF-EID on Tuesday must be followed by all government agencies and offices.

“On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, the Inter-Agency Task Force adopted the 10-Point Policy Agenda for Economic Recovery and directed all government agencies to align all related policies, measures, and programs with the 10-Point Policy Agenda,” Andanar added.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed Executive Order (EO) 166 on March 21 this year, which established the policy agenda.

The implementation of the 10-point policy plan under EO 166 will assist in hastening economic recovery and driving broad-based growth across diverse productive sectors in the face of the epidemic.

Local government entities, according to Andanar, are being urged to embrace the same policies, procedures, and programs in order to speed up the Philippine economy’s recovery.

He stated that the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) must oversee the implementation of the 10-point policy plan for economic recovery by government agencies.

According to Andanar, the NEDA is also required to report to the President on a regular basis on the compliance of state agencies and offices through the Office of the Executive Secretary.

EO 166 aims to maintain existing economic benefits, reduce long-term negative consequences of the epidemic, and re-establish the country’s development trajectory.

The IATF-EO EID’s directs government offices to strengthen health-care capacity, accelerate and expand the vaccination program, reopen the economy and expand public transportation capacity, resume face-to-face learning, relax domestic travel restrictions and standardize local government unit requirements, and relax international travel requirements.

It also requires the national government to use legislative measures to accelerate digital transformation, provide for enhanced and flexible emergency measures, shift the focus of decision-making and government reporting to more useful and empowering metrics, and prepare for pandemic resilience in the medium term.

Malacanang had previously expressed confidence that EO 166 would be carried out by following administrations.

Cases of Covid-19 are still being reported.

Until the pilot installation of the sentinel surveillance systems is completed, Andanar stated, workplaces should continue to report Covid-19 cases to their respective Local Epidemiology and Surveillance Units.

Following the suggestions of the Sub-Technical Working Group on Data Analytics, the IATF-EID released the most recent directive.

Guidelines for the system will be supplied once the Covid-19 surveillance has fully migrated to sentinel surveillance, according to IATF-EID Resolution 166, which was issued Tuesday.
