More than half of PH is currently at Level 1 alert: Palace

MANILA, Philippines — As Covid-19 instances in the Philippines remain low, more than half of the country’s towns and municipalities, including Metro Manila, are currently on the lowest Alert Level 1 status from April 16 to 30, according to Malacanang.

Acting presidential spokesperson and Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said the recommendation was adopted by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) on Tuesday.

From April 16 to the end of the month, the following provinces, highly urbanized cities (HUCs), independent component cities (ICCs), and municipalities will be under Alert Level 1:

For Luzon, the Cordillera Administrative Region includes Abra, Apayao, Baguio City, Mountain Province, and Kalinga; Region 1 includes Dagupan City, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan; Region 2 includes Batanes, Cagayan, City of Santiago, Isabela, and Quirino; Region 3 includes Angeles City, Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Olongapo

For the Visayas, there are three regions: Aklan, Bacolod City, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo City; Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, and Siquijor; and Biliran, Eastern Samar, Ormoc City, Southern Leyte, and Tacloban City.

For Mindanao, Region 9 includes Zamboanga City; Region 10 includes Cagayan de Oro City, Camiguin, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, and Iligan City; Region 11 includes Davao City; and Region 12 includes Butuan City and Surigao del Sur in Caraga.

From April 16 through April 30, the following component cities and municipalities will be placed on Alert Level 1.

Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya is in Region 2; Basud, Camarines Norte is in Region 5.

Region 6: Antique, New Lucena, Iloilo, Tubungan, Iloilo, and City of Victorias, Negros Occidental; and Region 7: Sevilla, Bohol.

Regions 10 and 12 in Mindanao are Sapang Dalaga, Misamis Occidental, and Tantangan, South Cotabato, respectively.

A total of 887 cities and municipalities, or 54 percent, are on Alert Level 1 (out of a total of 1,634).

Meanwhile, from April 16 to 30, the following HUCs and ICCs will be placed on Alert Level 2 without affecting their constituent cities and municipalities:

Benguet and Ifugao are in the Cordillera Administrative Region; Nueva Vizcaya is in Region 2; Quezon Province is in Region 4-A; Occidental Mindoro and Palawan is in Region 4-B; and Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Masbate, and Sorsogon is in Region 5.

Antique, Negros Occidental, and Iloilo Provinces are in Region 6; Bohol, Cebu, and Negros Oriental are in Region 7; while Leyte, Northern Samar, and Western Samar are in Region 8.

For Mindanao, Region 9 encompasses Isabela City, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga Sibugay; Region 10 encompasses Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental; Region 11 encompasses Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental; Region 12 encompasses General Santo

According to the Department of Health, the Philippines recorded 1,906 new Covid-19 cases from April 4 to 10, a decrease of 29% over the previous week’s data (DOH).

According to the DOH’s weekly bulletin, the latest total showed an average of 272 new infections every day throughout the covered period.

More than 66 million people in the country have been vaccinated against Covid-19, accounting for 74.05 percent of the government’s target population, while 12.4 million people have received booster injections.
