MANILA, Philippines β€” The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMMMinistry )’s of Interior and Local Government (MILG) announced on Tuesday that election monitors and security personnel are ready to ensure that the upcoming May 9 national and local elections are safe and peaceful.

MILG Minister Naguib Sinarimbo said BARMM’s Regional Commission on Elections will deploy personnel in hotspots such as Malabang municipality in Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao province, in coordination with the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines, during the “Laging Handa” public briefing.

“Since then, iyong mga citizens’ movement na watchdog ng Comelec (Commission on Elections) has been active, including the entire public.” So, overall, inaasahan ho natin na, tama naman po iyong paghahanda, and then iyong mga kababayan natin ay handa na para doon sa elections natin sa May 9 (So far, the Comelec’s citizens’ movement watchdog, which includes the entire public, is active.) As a result, we anticipate that we have made adequate preparations and that our constituents will be ready for the May 9 elections),” Sinarimbo stated.

The BARMM government and the police have formed a task force to concentrate security on 16 towns and two cities designated as “red code” or “areas of immediate concern.”
