The party-list official website denounces “false news” and claims that the group is still running in the May 9 election.

MANILA, Philippines β€” The United Senior Citizens (USC) Party-list has condemned what it calls “disinformation campaigns” waged against them by certain camps seeking to forward their own misguided agenda.

Rolleo Ignacio, the group’s second nominee, stated in a statement on Thursday that there are those who seek to discredit them, saying that the party’s list has been disqualified in order to deceive voters in the upcoming election.

This happened after recent polls revealed the party-good list’s performance, with it securing a slot in the Top 20.

“We kind of expect this kind of scam from those anxious for high rankings,” Ignacio added, “but at the same time, we want to appeal to our people to ignore these nasty techniques from these desperate groups.”

The USC is one of 12 party-list groupings that met the 2% minimum level needed to obtain a seat in the House of Representatives, according to a Publicus Asia poll conducted April 19-21.

The USC is a newbie, but because of the agenda and projects it tries to support, it is reported to be well-liked by the people.

Among these is the passage of a universal pension plan, which is expected to improve the quality of life for seniors and their families.

According to Ignacio, large gaps and considerable disrespect in the health state of the elderly have gone neglected for decades.

Poverty appears to be a common occurrence among senior adults. According to records, nearly half of all children rated their family’s financial situation as “poor” even before they reached adulthood.

The USC emphasized the importance of all Filipinos and institutions working together to safeguard elderly persons from discrimination, neglect, and abuse, not just from coronavirus illness (Covid-19).

Travel expenditures savings, dialysis treatment, hospitalization, dining, and retail discounts are among the services that the group aims to enhance for seniors.

“These are just a few of the basic benefits we want to provide to older people; we want to pass laws that will not only relieve their burdens but also enrich their lives and the lives of their loved ones,” Ignacio stated.

He went on to say that USC wants to create health centers across the country that will help seniors in a variety of ways.
