Four presidential candidates and three vice-presidential candidates have confirmed their attendance at the Comelec forum.

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Thursday that four presidential and three vice-presidential candidates have confirmed their participation in the panel interview sessions that the poll body and the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) would broadcast next week.

Commissioner George Garcia of the Comelec asked all presidential and vice-presidential candidates to attend.

“Apart from the fact that this is their last hurrah, we’re actually asking them to engage.” “Imagine this chance,” he stated in a press conference, referring to the KBP’s 1,000 members.

“They are paying for their 30-second commercials to air. This is completely free for an hour. We’re hoping they take advantage of this opportunity. “It’s a free hour,” Garcia added.

The Comelec had originally given the candidates till Thursday at 5 p.m. to confirm their attendance. It was extended for an additional hour.

After the candidates requested an extension, the deadline was pushed out to Friday at noon.

“They (candidates) requested a schedule extension till tomorrow noon,” Garcia stated. “Until tomorrow at lunchtime.” “This is the last and final extension.”

Meanwhile, the poll body has released the guidelines for the Pilipinas Forum 2022, which will consist of a series of one-hour panel interview sessions between a single candidate or team of candidates (president and vice president) conducted by a panel of broadcast anchors drawn from KBP-member networks.

The purpose of the discussion is to allow voters to hear directly from the candidates about their intentions for the presidency and the country.

Each session will begin with the candidate’s opening speech (8 minutes), which will contain a response to the question “Paano mo iaaahon ang Pilipinas sa mga hamon at krisis na hinaharap nito ngayon?”

The session will be organized into three pieces, each of which will feature an interactive conversation between the candidate and the panel. The focus of the conversation will be on two major subjects. The first portion (10 minutes) will address Presyo ng Bilihin at Kahirapan (Inflation and Poverty) as well as Trabaho at Sahod, Kabuhayan at Negosyo (Trabaho at Sahod, Kabuhayan at Negosyo) (Jobs creation and business).

The second (10-minute) portion will focus on Education and Healthcare, as well as Covid Response. Red-tagging, press freedom, attacks on civil society, attacks on mainstream media, fake news, e-sugal (e-gambling), electoral reforms, gender issues, political dynasties, dealing with disasters and calamities, use of nuclear energy, resurrecting the BNPP, foreign policy, judicial reforms, appointees, and other topics will be discussed in the third segment (12 minutes).

The candidate gives a two-minute closing statement to respond to the question: “Ano ang magiging tatak ng administrasyon mo?” And what will be your administration’s platform? (What will be your administration’s platform? Anim na taon mo masisiguro na bubuti ang buhay ng bawat Pilipino sa anim na taon mo masisiguro na bubuti ang buhay ng bawat Pilipino sa anim na taon mo masisigur And how can you guarantee that over your six-year mandate, the lives of every Filipino will improve?)”

Depending on the candidates’ preferences and availability, the session might be done in one of three ways: • Live and in person; • Live and through teleconference call; or • Live and on videotape (No Editing)

From May 2 to 6, 2022, the sessions will be broadcast from 10 a.m. to noon. The order in which the airings take place will be selected by a lottery.

Manila Broadcasting Company, Bombo Radyo Philippines, Radio Mindanao Network, ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. (Teleradyo and ANC), TV5 Network Inc. (One PH and OneNews), CNN Philippines, Radyo Pilipino, Primax Broadcasting, Vanguard Broadcasting, and others have all expressed interest in airing the forum.

The majority of radio and television stations that broadcast news are expected to participate, according to the Comelec.
