For jobless Filipinos, calibrated techniques open the door.

MANILA, Philippines β€” Malacanang said Friday that recalibrating government efforts against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) helped generate employment in the country.

Martin Andanar, the presidential spokesman and communications secretary, stated in a statement that the drop in adult unemployment, as measured by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) poll released Thursday, demonstrated the effectiveness of anti-coronavirus actions.

Given the government’s specific intentions to prolong the country’s economic recovery, he said the Palace expects a further improvement.

According to the SWS poll, the average jobless rate in 2021 will be 25.7 percent, down 11.7 percentage points from the record-high 37.4 percent in 2020.

“This is a clear indication of how effective our calibrated strategy of transitioning to the Alert Level System has been in further reopening the economy – where more firms are running and more Filipinos are able to go to work – while stepping up our Covid-19 vaccination program,” Andanar said.

According to the SWS poll, joblessness is still highest in Metro Manila (34%), followed by Balance Luzon (29%), Mindanao (18%), and the Visayas (13%). (17 percent).

Adult unemployment decreased in urban areas (from 30% in September 2021 to 26.6 percent in December 2021), as well as among women (from 32.3 percent to 31.2 percent), those aged 25 to 34 (from 33.9 percent to 32 percent), and elementary and junior high school graduates (from 18.7% to 16.7%). (from 31.1 percent to 28.5 percent).

However, according to the SWS, joblessness has increased in rural regions (from 20% to 22.8%), among men (from 19.3 percent to 20.5 percent), and among age groups 18 to 24 (from 51.5 percent to 58.8%), 35 to 44 (from 16 percent to 22.4 percent), and 45 and up (from 16 percent to 22.4 percent) (from 15.6 percent to 15.9 percent).

Non-elementary graduates (from 10.1 percent to 21.6 percent) and college graduates (from 10.1 percent to 21.6 percent) were likewise more likely to be unemployed (from 24.8 percent to 28.4 percent),

According to the survey, the number of jobless Filipinos in 2021 was still 5.9 percentage points greater than the 19.8 percent average joblessness recorded in 2019.

For national percentages, SWS interviewed 1,440 adult Filipinos with sampling error margins of plus or minus 2.6 percent.
