In Negros Oriental, more cops would be deployed for poll duty.

DUMAGUETE CITY — The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) will send an additional 175 police officers to the province of Negros Oriental to supplement the current security forces that will be deployed for poll duty on May 9.

The augmentation police troops would arrive in Negros Oriental on Wednesday, according to provincial police director Col. Germano Mallari, who spoke to the Philippine News Agency on Monday.

“We appreciate PRO-7 sending 175 people to the province on May 4 to supplement our troops at the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office,” he remarked in a combination of English and Cebuano.

“This completes the province’s security needs, and we are now 100 percent prepared for the elections,” he added.

Police officers will be assigned to all polling centers, station duty, security details during the delivery of vote-counting devices and election paraphernalia, and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) in strategic places, according to Mallari.

He also mentioned that the Philippine Army will be deploying its own troops to assist the police.

On Friday, all police officers who will be on poll duty will be given a send-off ceremony.

“Our security deployment plan is in place and ready to go two days before the election,” Mallari added.
