‘No one can match my fortitude,’ Sara says.
GUIMBAL (Ilocos Norte), Iloilo City – Sara Duterte, a vice presidential candidate and the mayor of Davao City, conceded on Tuesday that she may not be the “greatest, smartest, and most clever” candidate for the job, but that no one can match her fortitude.
“Ako si Sara Duterte,” she said. “No one can beat my tenacity, especially when it comes to making difficult decisions for the country),” Duterte stated during the Visayas leg of UniTeam’s Miting de Avance at the Guimbal Football Field here.
As the 90-day election campaign draws to a close, the UniTeam ticket and presidential frontrunner, former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, hit the road in Iloilo for the first of three Miting de Avance stops in different parts of the country.
Duterte used the narrative of Larry, a Davaoeo fish vendor who perished in a bomb attack in Davao City, to promote Marcos and UniTeam senatorial candidates.
“April 2017, alam niyo po.” I’m the mayor of Davao’s syudad. If you’re a makatakas, nag iwan ng bomba. (In April 2017, when I was mayor of Davao City.) Pagsabog ng bomba, namatay ang isang lalake, si Larry We awoke on April 28th, less than two months after giving birth to my youngest child, to the news that a box factory had caught fire. Those who wish to overthrow the government set it on fire. As they departed, they dropped a bomb, killing a man named Larry),” she added.
Duterte recalled rushing to the hospital to visit Larry and attempting to contact any of his immediate family members. She discovered a same-day message from Larry to his wife in his sent messages folder, which said, “I love you.” “Congratulations on your anniversary.”
Larry died three days later in the hospital.
“As a mayor, if ikaw (ay) namatayan ng ganyan, hindi mo ‘yan malilimutan,” he says (As a mayor, you will never forget when someone lost his life). They lost their father to lawless groups seeking to destabilize the government),” stated Duterte.
The vice-presidential candidate detailed Larry’s ties to Marcos, hinting that if elected president, the latter will never align himself with any terrorist organization that will cause havoc in the country.
‘Yan ginawa niya’yan ginawa niya’yan ginawa niya’yan ginawa niya’yan Iboto niyo yan si BBM (What is Larry’s link to BBM? BBM never talked to or made a deal with groups whose goal is to overthrow the government in order to assure his success throughout this campaign. That’s BBM; please vote for him),” urged Duterte.
“Bongbong Marcos would never sleep with the enemies of the state,” she continued. Never.”
In her vice-presidential campaign, Duterte, who constantly ranks first in pre-election polls, claimed she will prioritize job creation, great education, and peace and order.
She pledged to advocate for the continuation of her father’s projects, including the ‘Build, Build, Build’ and the fight against criminality, aside from pushing for peace, which was one of the UniTeam’s campaign battle cry.
“Nangampanya kami ng kapayapaan,” says the narrator (We advocate for peace). We will continue to support President Duterte’s ‘Build, Build, Build’ program, which provides peace and development, as well as anti-criminality programs),” Duterte stated.
She thanked the audience for their time and encouraged them to stay to hear her arguments for the country.
According to the most recent data from the Commission on Elections, the province of Iloilo has 1,628,752 registered voters for the May 9 elections.
