Marcos-Duterte is backed by a 2-million-strong INC.

MANILA – The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), a religious organization, has formally endorsed presidential frontrunner Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his running partner, Sara Duterte, in the May 9 elections.

The statement was made during the “Mata ng Agila” news program on Net 25 Tuesday night, which has a global membership of 2.5 million people.

INC is expected to distribute sample ballots with the names of the UniTeam duo as well as senatorial candidates Jojo Binay, Alan Peter Cayetano, JV Ejercito, Guillermo Eleazar, Francis Escudero, Jinggoy Estrada, Sherwin Gatchalian, Loren Legarda, Robin Padilla, Joel Villanueva, Mark Villar, and Miguel Zubiri this week.

Marcos’ vice presidential campaign and President Rodrigo Duterte were both approved by the INC in 2016 polls.

Marcos’ spokesperson and chief of staff, lawyer Vic Rodriguez, issued a statement thanking the INC.

“We will value your support, just as we value the support of the majority of our Filipino brothers and sisters.” This type of trust would serve as a roadmap for presidential frontrunner Bongbong Marcos and vice presidential frontrunner Inday Sara Duterte in governing our country if they win the May 9 elections,” he said.

Members of the religious group are known to follow their leaders’ instructions.

On Tuesday, Marcos and Duterte will hold a large campaign rally in Guimbal, Iloilo.
