Marcos and Duterte are pleased with the INC’s support.

MANILA, Philippines β€” Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte, welcomed the endorsement of the religious group Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) on Tuesday night, vowing to promote their platform of unity to assist Filipinos in recovering from the pandemic’s catastrophe.

During the UniTeam Alliance’s “Miting de Avance” in Guimbal, Iloilo, Marcos pledged that he and Duterte would endeavor to ensure that the influential religious group’s trust in them would result in Filipino unity and a brighter future for the youth.

“Sisikapin namin na ang tiwalang ipinagkaloob niyo sa aming tambalan ay magbubunga ng tunay na pagkakaisa ng mga Pilipinong nagmamahal sa Pilipinas at walang alinlangan na sama-samang haharap sa mga pagsubok n

Meanwhile, Duterte described the INC’s endorsement as an honor as well as a challenge for the UniTeam to unite the country in order to aid the country’s recovery from the pandemic.

“Ang pagpili sa amin ni Apo Bongbong Marcos bilang mga kandidato na inyong sinuportahan sa pagka-presidente at bise presidente sa darating na halalan ay isang malaking karangalan na may kaakibat na hamong nakatuon sa aming kakayahang

During the “Mata ng Agila” news program on Net 25, the INC, which has around 2.5 million members worldwide, announced its decision to publicly back Marcos as president and Duterte as vice president.

The religious organization is well-known for its ability to mobilize a large number of people to vote in a single direction.

Marcos’ vice presidential campaign and President Rodrigo Duterte were both approved by the INC in 2016 polls.

Marcos’ spokesperson and chief of staff, lawyer Vic Rodriguez, issued a statement thanking the INC.

“We will value your support, just as we value the support of the majority of our Filipino brothers and sisters.” If Bongbong Marcos and Vice President Inday Sara Duterte win the upcoming elections on May 9, this kind of trust will serve as a guidance for them in governing our country,” Rodriguez said.

The INC is expected to distribute sample ballots with the names of the UniTeam duo as well as senatorial candidates Jojo Binay, Alan Peter Cayetano, JV Ejercito, Guillermo Eleazar, Francis Escudero, Jinggoy Estrada, Sherwin Gatchalian, Loren Legarda, Robin Padilla, Joel Villanueva, Mark Villar, and Miguel Zubiri this week.
