MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte stated on Tuesday that the Filipino people can seek his help even after he leaves office in June.
Duterte made the statement during a campaign event in Cainta, Rizal, for his ruling party, the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), when he promised to “stay a worker for the people” after taking office.
He stated that he is eager to assist Filipinos who seek his counsel, even though he is now a civilian.
“Totoo. If there is an issue that the government cannot handle, paalamin mo ako, tignan ko lang (That is correct. Let me know if you have a problem that the government is unable to resolve. I’ll assist). I’ll also give you a guarantee that I’ll listen to you and help you (na pakinggan kita at tutulong ako) “According to Duterte.
Despite the achievements made under his watch, the President noted that much work needed to be done.
He also stated that his administration’s achievements are “the result of synergy and collaboration between the national and local governments, as well as the people.”
“While we have a lot to be thankful for, there is still a lot to be done to guarantee that everyone has the greatest life possible,” he remarked.
Nonetheless, Duterte expressed confidence that if the PDP-Laban candidates win the local and national elections on May 9, they will maintain his policies and initiatives.
In order to persuade campaign rally participants to vote for PDP-Laban candidates, the President promised that they would “tirelessly labor” to provide a comfortable life for Filipinos.
“That is why I am asking all of you to rally behind my fellow party members who are here tonight so that they can carry on the projects that my administration has started. They not only uphold the PDP-beliefs, Laban’s but they also place the welfare of the Filipino people at the top of their priority list “he stated
Duterte urged Filipinos to vote for his party’s candidates with the same enthusiasm and faith that they have shown for him over the years.
He also urged them to select “excellent” leaders with experience and a passion for public service.
“Let us therefore unite and work together with the PDP-Laban candidates so that we can assure a brighter future for our dear nation and for future generations,” Duterte urged. “To my party mates, may you stay rooted in our greatest ideals as Filipinos, and may you continue to be a source of light for our people, especially as we move toward nation-building.”
