Lacson administration pledged gender equality

MANILA – Under Senator Panfilo Lacson’s presidency, a government that promotes gender equality would flourish.

Lacson stated gender equality will be a standard policy of his administration, reiterating that all men, women, and other non-binary individuals will be afforded the same amount of respect as basic human rights, speaking at a town hall forum in Ampatuan, Maguindanao on Thursday.

“Tayong Pilipino, pare-pareho.” Actually, it is a universal right that is not recognized in the Philippines. Individual rights ng bawat tao β€” mapa-lalaki, mapa-babae, mapa-LGBT β€” may be exercised in a variety of ways. ‘ika nga, gender equality. (We are all Filipinos.) Pantay-pantay lahat, walang diskriminasyon Actually, this is a universal right, not just in the Philippines. Every person, whether a male, a woman, or a member of the LGBT community, has individual rights. In a sense, gender equality. Lacson declared at the online event, “We are all equal, no discrimination).”

Gay people in the Bangsamoro region are still discriminated against, according to a forum poster who acknowledged to being an LGBT member.

“The Bangsamoro does not fully accept us.” Some of them are tanggap na kami, yet security is their main worry. ‘Yung pagba-bash, ‘yung pag-degrade ng pagkatao namin,’ sana ma-stop. (Some of them tolerate us, but security is our primary concern.) We hope the shaming stops because it degrades us. We also want to serve and create delight),” remarked the participant.

Lacson then reaffirmed his commitment to equality, as did his running mate, Senate President Vicente Sotto III.

“Kung ano’yung proteksyon na ibinibigay sa bawat isang kababayan natin na Pilipino, dapat ibigay sa lahat ng tao kabilang na sa tinatawag natin β€” kinabibilangan ninyo β€” mga LGBT, dapat ibigay sa As a result, ‘yun po’yung aking guarantee at kami po napaka-partikular dito. (The same level of protection that we provide to every Filipino must be offered to all members of the LGBT community, which you identify with.) So, that’s my assurance, and we take this very seriously),” he said.

He stated that they aim to improve the situation not only in terms of livelihood, but also in terms of the status of every Filipino, regardless of their origins, beliefs, or inclinations.
