Robin Padilla is leading the Senate election thanks to PRRD’s assistance.

MANILA – A political analyst stated Tuesday that actor Robin Padilla’s victory in this year’s senatorial election surprised him.

OCTA Research fellow Ranjit Rye claimed during the state-run PTV-4 show “Hatol ng Bayan 2022” that they couldn’t pinpoint why Padilla was the top choice among senatorial hopefuls.

“Mahirap. (It’s tough to say.) Pinag-aaralan din namin kasi sa aming survey, hindi ho siya ang lumabas na. We’re still studying since, according to our pre-election polls, he didn’t come in first, but he was in the top ten “Professor of political science at the University of the Philippines, Rye.

According to the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting’s incomplete and unofficial vote tally, Padilla maintained his lead in the senate race (PPCRV).

Padilla had 26,385,249 votes as of 8:17 p.m. Tuesday, according to PPCRV data.

With 23,939,235 votes, Padilla was followed by House Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, who is seeking re-election to the Senate, and broadcaster Raffy Tulfo.

Rye confirmed that OCTA Research believes Legarda or Tulfo will be the frontrunner in the Senate campaign.

Padilla’s fame and “strong” support from President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, according to him, have helped the actor lead the senatorial race.

“I believe that a number of reasons contributed to his victory. The administration, particularly the President, was quite supportive of him. He was also warmly backed by other contenders,” Rye stated. “He’s also a performer. He is really well-liked.”

Padilla is “extremely well-respected in his community” as a Muslim, according to Rye.

Padilla’s message to the public, he added, “clearly resonates with a lot of people.”

“This is also factored towards his vote total. There are numerous reasons why Robin Padilla has risen to the top of the rankings “he remarked.
