Elon Musk's offer to buy Twitter for USD44 billion was approved by Twitter on Monday…
Musk describes Trump’s Twitter ban as “morally awful.”
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, announced on Tuesday that he will lift former President Donald Trump’s Twitter ban, calling the action “morally wrong” and “very idiotic.”
Musk, whose USD44 billion bid to buy Twitter was accepted by the company in late April, said he spoke with Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and the two agreed that “permanent bans should be extremely rare and really reserved for accounts that are bots or spam scam accounts, where there’s just no legitimacy to be held accountable.”
“I believe Donald Trump’s ban was incorrect. That was a mistake, in my opinion, because it alienated a significant portion of the public and did not result in Donald Trump losing his voice “He stated this in an interview with the Financial Times.
Musk admitted that he does not yet own Twitter, but he and Dorsey agreed that permanent bans should be avoided.
“That doesn’t mean that someone has the right to say whatever they want; if they say something that is illegal or otherwise harmful to the world, then there should be a passive timeout, a brief suspension, or that specific tweet should be hidden or have very limited traction,” he said.
