Negros Occidental political families win, keep, and transfer positions.

The winners’ list for the top elective offices in Negros Occidental for the May 9 elections was dominated by spouses, siblings, parents, and children.

Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer was re-elected for a second term, while his wife, Rep. Juliet Ferrer of the fourth district, was re-elected for a third and final term.

Former third district congressman Alfredo Benitez was elected mayor of this capital city, while his son Javier was elected mayor of Victorias City.

Jose Francisco Benitez, Benitez’s younger brother, was re-elected as the third district congressman.

Laurence Marxlen and Nehemiah Joe de la Cruz, brothers from Don Salvador Benedicto, were re-elected as mayor and vice mayor, respectively.

Madonnah Jaojoco was elected mayor of Toboso, following her husband Richard, who was chosen the first councilor.

Lorenzo Suatengco, who took over for his father Antonio, who died in February, was elected mayor of Pulupandan, together with his cousin, outgoing mayor Miguel Antonio Pea, who will serve as vice mayor, in the fourth district.

Mayor Nadie Arceo of Hinigaran was re-elected with his wife Mary Grace Arceo as vice mayor in the fifth district, while Mayor Alejandro Mirasol of Binalbagan was re-elected with his wife Mary Ann Mirasol as vice mayor.

Irene Montilla was re-elected mayor of Isabela, with her son Juan Miguel joining her as vice mayor.

Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan, the mayor of La Castellana, was re-elected, this time with her father, previous mayor Alberto Nicor Jr., as vice mayor.

In Ilog, brothers John Paul and Renato Rafael Alvarez retained their mayoral and vice mayoral positions, respectively, while their sister Mercedes was elected to the sixth district as a representative.

John Rey Tabujara, the mayor of Cauayan, and vice mayor Anna Liza Soriano, who are brother and sister, both received new mandates.

Mayor Maria Gina Lizares and Vice Mayor Oscar Montilla Jr. of Sipalay City were both re-elected till 2025.
