The G7 countries have called on Russia to cease the conflict in Ukraine.

On Saturday, the G7 countries urged Russia to cease its conflict with Ukraine, expressing strong support for Kyiv.

“We remain steadfast in our support for Ukraine in its defense against Russia’s unjustified, unprovoked, and illegal war of aggression,” the G7 nations said in a joint statement. “We reiterate our constant call on Russia to put an end to the war it started and to end the suffering and loss of life it continues to cause.”

France, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States all criticized Russia’s war on Kyiv, which they stated resulted in one of the worst food and energy crises in recent history.

“Concerning the present issue, the G7 has pledged to support Ukraine in both the short and long term. We are committed to accelerating a coordinated multilateral response to maintain global food security, and we will stand alongside our most vulnerable partners in this endeavor.”

They pledged to develop sustainable energy and invest more in LNG projects to lessen reliance on Russia, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining energy security while speeding up the energy transition.

“In this context, we acknowledge the significance of boosting investment in upstream initiatives, particularly LNG projects, as well as promoting renewable energy usage in order to reduce our reliance on Russian energy,” the statement stated.

The G7 also stated that they would not allow Republika Srpska’s secessionist activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and expressed concern over the country’s worsening political turmoil.

“We will not allow Republika Srpska’s separatist activities, which jeopardize the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina and regional stability,” it stated.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is divided politically between Bosniaks and Serbs, with Bosnian Serb parliamentarians threatening to boycott the country’s institutions after the country’s penal code was revised this year to prohibit the denial of genocide and the glorification of war criminals.
