The government responds to the declining vaccination rate by holding special vaccination days.

MANILA – Special vaccination days are being held by the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) in order to meet the minimum objective of 77 million Filipinos who have been properly immunized.

Myrna Cabotaje, NVOC chair and Health Undersecretary, said the improved Covid-19 situation in the country is affecting the immunization program.

“One of the difficulties is that, while they recognize the necessity of vaccination, including boosters, they do not see the urgency because there are few current cases and the increase occurred in December of last year and the first two months of this year.” “They believe that natural and artificial immunity is sufficient,” Cabotaje stated during a public briefing on Tuesday for “Laging Handa.”

Calabarzon, with a population of almost 16 million, has 2.7 million unvaccinated people, according to the latest NVOC data.

“Ang tutukan natin ay ang Quezon province,” Cabotaje remarked.

There are additional 1.7 million unvaccinated people in Central Visayas, 1.5 million in Central Luzon, 1.4 million in Bicol, and 1.3 million in Soccsksargen, with a special concentration on Palawan (Mimaropa) because of its many tourist attractions.

Special immunization days in the provinces of Muslim Mindanao’s Bangsamoro Autonomous Region began on May 11 and 13, followed by Lamitan and Basilan until May 20.

From May 16 to 20, the government increased vaccination efforts in Marawi City, Maguindanao, and Lanao del Sur.

According to Cabotaje, the affected areas’ immunization rate has grown to around 68 percent of the aim.

The Philippines has vaccinated 68.7 million people, with just 13.6 million receiving the first booster shot.

The second booster dose was given to a total of 30,912 immunocompromised adults.
