Trixie Cruz-Angeles, a lawyer and vlogger, has been chosen as Marcos’ press secretary.

MANILA β€” Rose Beatrix ‘Trixie’ Cruz-Angeles, a lawyer, radio commentator, and vlogger, has been designated press secretary to presumptive President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.

Cruz-Angeles accepted the invitation to be press secretary and head of the Presidential Communications Operations Office, according to Marcos’ chief of staff and incoming Executive Secretary, Atty. Vic Rodriguez (PCOO).

“I am grateful for the opportunity to be a member of President Bongbong Marcos’ government as his Press Secretary.” “I accept the nomination and the responsibility of conducting the business of the PCOO with humility,” Cruz-Angeles was quoted in the press release as saying.

Cruz-Angeles will “oversee the operations of the PCOO,” according to Rodriguez, “which includes holding regular press briefings for media practitioners monitoring Malacanang events.”

Marcos had previously stated that he would not select a spokesperson, therefore limiting Cruz-Angeles’ role to that of a talking head during press briefings.

Cruz-Angeles previously worked at the PCOO as a social media strategist from July 2017 to July 2018 under President Rodrigo Duterte’s government.

She is well-known as a lawyer for defending military commanders accused of mutiny and insurrection.

Cruz-Angeles was also a former spokesperson for the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and a former commissioner for Cultural Heritage of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

She is now the host of the Karambola show on DWIZ.

She also has a Facebook page called “Luminous by Trixie Cruz-Angeles & Ahmed Paglinawan,” which has over 400,000 fans.

Cruz-Angeles was a columnist for Inquirer.net and the publisher of Politiko, an online newspaper focused on and about politicians and government officials in the Philippines.

She taught cultural and arts management at the Ateneo de Manila University and the Institute for Cultural and Arts Management.

She graduated from the University of the Philippines (UP) with a law degree in 1997 and is currently pursuing an International Relations degree at the University of Minnesota in the United States, as well as a master’s degree in Archaeology at the same institution.

Martin Andanar, the outgoing PCOO secretary and acting presidential spokesperson, welcomed Cruz-Angeles’ candidacy in a press statement.

“Attorney Angeles is no stranger to PCOO, having worked there during the Duterte administration’s early years. “We wish Attorney Angeles the best of luck in her new job,” Andanar remarked.
