Central Visayas wage orders are awaiting approval from a national commission.

CEBU CITY, Philippines – The regional wage board has submitted its wage order to the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) for approval, according to the Department of Labor and Employment in Central Visayas (DOLE-7) on Friday.

Wage Order No. ROVII-D.W.03 and Wage Order No. ROVII23, approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB-7) on Tuesday, is required by law to be submitted to the NWPC for review, according to DOLE Undersecretary Victor del Rosario, who is also the concurrent regional director.

Wage Order No. ROVII-D.W.03 raises the minimum wage rate for domestic workers in the region, while Wage Order No. ROVII23 raises the wage rate for agricultural and non-agricultural workers.

“Kung okay na ang tanan, mohatag dayon sila sa Wage Board (RTWPB-7) og go signal aron ato dayong i-pamantala sa newspaper ang maong mga wage orders,” said del Rosario, the RTWPB-7 chair.

By statute, the NWPC has ten days to examine the RTWPB-7’s decision.

Following the adoption of the twin wage orders by the RTWPB-7, Central Visayas workers will receive a PHP31 rise in their daily wage, according to Evita Balane, the Wage Board officer-in-charge secretary.

Metro Cebu workers in the agricultural and non-agricultural industries, referred to as class A in the regional wage order, would now be paid PHP435 instead of PHP404 as per the 2018 pay order.

Workers in Class B, who previously received PHP366 per day, will now receive PHP397, while those in Class C, who previously earned PHP356 per day, will receive PHP387 once the new wage order takes effect.

In addition, the RTWPB-7 approved a PHP500 raise for domestic employees in the region. Domestic employees in chartered cities and first-class municipalities can receive PHP5,500 per month if the program is implemented, while those working elsewhere can get PHP5,000.

“Mahimo silang effective 15 ka adlaw human sa ilang publishing,” del Rosario explained.
