Comelec shuts down 3 May 9 servers
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) shut down the AES servers and networks used in the May 9 elections.
Comelec spokesman John Rex Laudiangco said the data centers must close.
The servers are in Taguig, Paraaque, and Quezon City.
As with the Transparency Server, shutdown operations will include a backup, he added in a Monday Viber message. “Like the Transparency Server, the Data Centers have served their purpose for this Election, necessitating dismantling.”
Political parties and citizen arm groups watched as AES servers and network equipment were shut down.
“Part of post-election proceedings, emphasising transparency, is open to witnesses, but not live broadcast coverage,” he said.
Over 55 million Filipinos, or 83% of the 65 million registered voters, voted, including those abroad.
The House of Representatives declared Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte on May 25.
