Monkeypox surveillance is being increased by the Department of Health in Ilocos Norte.
According to her, the sickness can be spread by direct contact.
“Physical separation and wearing face masks could also be used to prevent the disease from spreading,” she said.
Monkeypox, according to the World Health Organization, is an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus that causes a severe rash that is usually self-limiting but can lead to serious illness or death.
It goes on to say that fatality happens in up to 11% of instances, with young people being the most vulnerable.
