BARMM’s halal compliance will be boosted thanks to the P2-M feed mill.

The agriculture office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is taking a stride ahead in strengthening halal (permissive) promotion compliance in the region.

Engineer Saidona Lawam, a senior agriculturist with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), explained that the latest project aimed to offer halal feeds in order to boost halal-compliant poultry and fish production sectors in the region.

The regional government is erecting a PHP1.99 million small-scale halal feed mill in Barangay Muti, Guindulungan in Maguindanao, according to Lawan, who is also the focal person for MAFAR’s halal development program. It is projected to take 100 days to finish.

In a statement released Tuesday, Lawan stated, “We proposed this project to ensure that we can deliver and sustain halal-certified products from farm to plate.”

The halal feed mill facility, he claimed, is 150 square meters and can store 500-600 sacks of feed.

Guindulungan municipal administrator Datu Harabas Midtimbang praised MAFAR for continuing to work in their area, particularly on the halal development program.

“Having a halal feed mill project that fits in with our objective of being an Islamic center municipality is a huge assist,” he said.
