Activity restrictions in regions under Alert Level 1 have been relaxed.

MANILA, Philippines β€” Despite the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, Malacaang said on Tuesday that restrictions on indoor and outdoor activities in regions under the most lenient Alert Level 1 have been abolished.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Communications Secretary Martin Andanar stated this came after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) permitted full operations of companies in places under Alert Level 1.

Andanar stated that the IATF-most EID’s recent decision was included in the modified rules for Covid-19’s nationwide alert level systems, which were approved on Saturday.

In a press statement, Andanar added, “The government pandemic task group understands the necessity to further specify the establishments and/or activities that are allowed to function, or be done in Alert Level 1.”

All enterprises and activities that were previously prohibited or authorized to operate or be done in limited capacity under Alert Levels 5, 4, 3, and 2 can now function at “full 100 percent capacity” in regions under the most relaxed Alert Level 1.

According to the new standards, anyone attending a large gathering or entering an indoor institution must show proof of full Covid-19 vaccination.

“However, at Alert Level 1, the IATF approved full 100 percent capacity, subject to the presentation of proof of full vaccination before engaging in mass meetings or entering indoor facilities,” Andanar added.

Level 1 National Alert

The Philippines reported 1,295 new Covid-19 infections from May 30 to June 5.

According to data issued by the Department of Health, the country’s daily average of Covid-19 instances fell to 185 from May 30 to June 5, down 1.4 percent from the previous week (DOH).

While recognizing that the country’s Covid-19 infection rate remained “low risk,” Andanar stated the government still needed to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the possibility of a statewide Alert Level 1.

When questioned if all areas of the country may be placed under Alert Level 1 in the second half of June, Andanar responded, “Palagay ko, kailangang pag-aralan ng mabuti (I think, we have to consider that thoroughly).”

Andanar also encouraged the public to maintain adhering to the basic public health standards in order to protect themselves from Covid-19.

“Once again, we can never be certain of what will happen in the future, so we must continue to be cautious and adhere to health protocols,” he said.

From June 1 to 15, over 200 locations across the country, including Metro Manila, were placed on Alert Level 1.
