In Bicol, 450 contemporary PUVs are being deployed by firms and transportation groupings.
MANILA, Philippines — Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) and 30 local transport cooperative groups have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the implementation of more contemporary PUVs in Bicol, as part of the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
Hyundai Trucks and Buses Alabang would support the acquisition of 450 new PUVs for the 150-member transport groups under the MOU.
“What matters most to us is that the Hyundai modern PUV is helping to strengthen the economy of the Bicol area, as well as every Philippine province, city, and municipality where it is found,” Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo, HARI president and chief executive officer, said.
Hyundai previously cooperated with Bulusan Transport Service Cooperative (BULTRASCO) in April to offer 15 Class 3 HD50S contemporary PUVs to Sorsogon.
In 2020, the Tabaco-Legazpi Transport Cooperative (TALETRANSCO) in Albay received a fleet of 23 Hyundai PUVs.
HARI has delivered approximately 500 contemporary PUVs across the country in the last five years, helping to make public transit safer, more comfortable, reliable, sustainable, and accessible to Filipinos.
HARI created BiyaHenyo at the beginning of the year to assist transportation companies across the country in upgrading their fleets to contemporary PUVs.
To date, the Philippines’ exclusive importer and distributor of Hyundai cars has collaborated with 80 local transportation cooperatives to roll out more modern PUVs around the country.
