In Tacloban, a job fair on Independence Day has 500 openings.

On Independence Day (June 12), at least 500 local employment would be available for pandemic-affected job seekers in Eastern Visayas, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) field office.

DOLE Regional Director Henry John Jalbuena said in a statement that 33 local firms will participate in the job fair at Robinsons North, which is being organized in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Nurses, accounting staff, call center agents, drivers, production crew, store supervisors, cashiers, bartenders, and customer service representatives are among the available positions.

Jalbuena praised the employers who took part in the event and invited other businesses to join DOLE in its efforts to help the economy recover and thrive by creating jobs.

“We applaud our employers once again for their unwavering support in this important endeavor, and I hope that other firms will follow suit and participate in the future Kalayaan Job Fair,” he said in a statement.

“To our job searchers in Eastern Visayas, we hope to see you at the venue this time, and we hope you’ll land the job you’ve always wanted,” Jalbuena concluded.

Before the employment fair, there will be a short program with messages from key stakeholders, followed by the awarding of livelihood projects to beneficiaries.
