Rerouting and road restrictions for the BBM’s inauguration

The National Museum of the Philippines in Manila, the location of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s inauguration on June 30, would be closed to traffic on Saturday, according to a plan provided by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Although the Manila Covid-19 Field Hospital is close by, Marcos originally intended to host his inauguration at the Quirino Grandstand.

It was also revealed on Friday that the National Museum will be closed from June 27 to July 4 in order to “ensure everyone’s safety during increased ingress activity around the National Museum Complex, the National Museum of Anthropology, the National Museum of Natural History, as well as the National Museum of Fine Arts.”

In Manila, the day of the inauguration has been proclaimed a holiday.

The following is the schedule for road closures and detours:

Road closures:
June 26 at 12:01 a.m. to June 30 at 11 p.m.:
• Padre Burgos Avenue
• Finance Road
• Ma. Orosa Street – from TM Kalaw to P. Burgos
• General Luna Street – from P. Burgos to Muralla Street
June 30, 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.:
• Ayala Boulevard
• Victoria Street – from Taft Avenue to Muralla Street
Rerouting of public and private vehicles:
• Northbound vehicles coming from Roxas Blvd. should turn right at U.N. Avenue or Kalaw Avenue, then turn left at Taft Avenue to reach the point of destination.
• Eastbound vehicles coming from Roxas Blvd. should turn left at Kalaw Avenue or U.N. Avenue, then turn right at Taft Ave. to reach the point of destination.
Rerouting of trucks:
Northbound
• All northbound trucks coming from South Luzon Expressway (SLEX): take Osmeña Highway, turn left at Quirino Avenue then turn right at Roxas Boulevard, go straight to Bonifacio Drive going to the point of destination. However, Roxas Boulevard (from Gil Puyat to P. Burgos) will be closed to traffic on June 30 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Another alternate route for northbound trucks: from SLEX, go straight ahead to Osmeña Highway then turn right at Quirino Avenue, go straight to Nagtahan St. and to Lacson Avenue, then turn left at Yuseco Street, go straight ahead to Capulong Street then turn right to R-10 Road to reach the point of destination.
Southbound
• All southbound trucks: from Bonifacio Drive, go straight to Roxas Boulevard turn left at Quirino Avenue, then turn right at Osmeña Highway and go straight to SLEX to reach the point of destination. However, Roxas Boulevard (from Gil Puyat to P. Burgos) will be closed to traffic on June 30 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Road closures
June 29 at 12:01 a.m. to June 30 at 11 p.m.:
• Mendiola Street
June 30, 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Jalandoni Street, PICC, Pasay City
June 30, 1 p.m to 11 p.m.
• Legarda Street – from San Rafael to Figueras Street
Rerouting of public and private vehicles:
• All vehicles intended for Jalandoni Street may take Atang Dela Rama or Roxas Boulevard.
• All vehicles coming from Sampaloc area Earnshaw Street intending to pass through Legarda St. should turn left at Manrique Street to reach the point of destination.
• All vehicles coming from Sta. Mesa area via Legarda Street intending to pass through Mendiola Street should turn right at M.F. Jhocson, then left at Lardizabal Street to reach the point of destination.
• All vehicles coming from P. Casal Street intending to pass through Mendiola should turn left at Arlegui Street to reach the point of destination.
• All vehicles coming from Quezon Blvd. and C.M. Recto Ave. intending to pass through Mendiola should turn left at N. Reyes St. or right at S. H. Loyola to reach the point of destination.

Alternate routes from north to south of Metro Manila:
• From R-10 via C3, Sgt. Rivera St., Araneta Avenue to reach the point of destination
• From McArthur Hi-way and North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) via Edsa to reach the point of destination
• From Balintawak via Metro Manila Skyway to reach the point of destination

Alternate routes from south to north of Metro Manila:
• From Roxas Blvd. via Edsa to reach the point of destination
• From SLEX via C5 to Congressional Avenue going to Mindanao Avenue to reach the point of destination
• From SLEX via Edsa to reach the point of destination
• From SLEX via Metro Manila Skyway to reach the point of destination

The inauguration, which will take place on the grounds of the National Museum around noon, is anticipated to be attended by new Cabinet members, diplomats, lawmakers, judges, representatives of the legal profession, and other visitors.

Romando Artes, the chair of the MMDA, announced that the organization will send 2,000 employees from the Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group, Metro Public Safety Office, and Traffic Discipline Office for traffic management, clearing operations, and emergency response.

When necessary, ambulances and tow trucks will be sent to key sites for speedy response.

The MMDA is in charge of ensuring the participants’ smooth movement and traffic management, working closely with the Presidential Security Group, the City Government of Manila, the Manila Police District, and the National Capital Region Police Office.
