Like Vice President Duterte, Velasco pledges to provide loyal, caring public service.
Lord Allan Velasco, a representative from the sole district of Marinduque, would keep up his “honest and caring public service” in the spirit of his friend, Vice President-elect Sara Duterte.
Velasco was sworn in by Supreme Court Associate Justice Jhosep Lopez at Marinduque Sports Complex in Boac on Sunday. It is reported that Romualdez will succeed Velasco as House Speaker in the 19th Congress.
Throughout Velasco’s swearing-in, Duterte held the Bible. Velasco and Governor Presby Velasco greeted her when she arrived.
“Iisa lamang po ang aking pangunahing gabay — ang pag-ibig — sa bawat pagsubok at hamon na ating kinaharap sa Kongreso. Panginoon pag-ibig, bayan pag-ibig, and pamilya pag-ibig. It was my guiding principle in every obstacle I faced while serving in Congress. I am motivated by my love for God, my country, and my family. Ito ang nagpapabangon sa atin tuwing umaga upang gawin ang lahat ng ating makakaya upang lalong bumuti ang kalagayan ng ating bayan at ng ating bansa. In his inaugural address, Velasco remarked, “It gives me the willpower to get up every morning and do my best to improve the lives of Filipinos and the country.
He exhorted the youth to have confidence in themselves and work harder in order to better their homes, neighborhoods, and nation.
We might write our own destinies since we will be the ones who bring about change, he said. “Kaya nating itakda ang sariling tadhana,” he remarked.
Velasco, who won unchallenged and received more than 100,000 votes, will serve his third consecutive term.
