Long-standing PH-Australian ties are strengthened by the Marcos-Hurley meeting.

Following his inauguration, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. hosted a bilateral discussion at Malacanang Palace on Thursday with Australia’s Governor-General David Hurley.

This was the new chief executive’s first in-person encounter with a foreign head of state.

The Governor-General represents the importance Australia places on its long-standing connections with the Philippines by becoming the highest-ranking dignitary to attend Marcos’ opening at the National Museum on June 30.

I’m thrilled to be in the Philippines, one of Australia’s closest neighbors, to witness the efforts being made by our two nations to advance their bilateral relationship into a Strategic Partnership. Our mateship and bayanihan ideals serve as the cornerstones of our enduring connection, Hurley stated.

The leaders of the state talked about the growing defense, development, trade, and people-to-people ties between Australia and the Philippines during their meeting.

The presidents of the two nations reaffirmed their commitment to the Indo-Pacific region’s peace, security, and prosperity, according to the Australian Embassy in Manila.
