Davao City issues a warning about fake wedding planners.
On Friday, the Davao City Anti-Scam Unit issued a warning to locals about phony wedding planners and marriage packages being sold online.
The Head of the city’s anti-scam unit Simplicio Sagarino asked the public in a statement to constantly verify the organizers’ business permits from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the city’s Business Bureau.
After learning that 30 couples had reportedly been duped by a Davao-based wedding planner who had sold them a PHP65,000 package that included the venue, catering, and the bride’s dress, Sagarino issued the warning.
“These couples paid nearly in full and more than half, but there was no wedding. Since permissions from the BIR and Business Bureau are necessary to arrange events, they should always verify if they have them, Sagarino advised.
According to him, the organizer has received an invitation, and a meeting between the parties to discuss the matter is scheduled for July 6.
In addition to making complaints, members of the public can visit their office to find out if a specific wedding planner has a bad reputation.
The couple would benefit from meeting their wedding planner in person rather than only talking about the event online, according to Sagarino.
A “Kasalan at Kotilyon 2022 in Davao Wedding & Debut Expo” is scheduled to take place at Ayala Malls Abreeza on July 30-31.
The two-day event, which is sponsored by a number of wedding planners and vendors, features the largest meeting of Davao wedding & event vendors and promises to give couples, debutants, and families that attend the most exclusive discounts and outstanding raffle prizes.
On July 29, at the Apo View Hotel, Manila’s Style Master Henry Pascual will conduct an event styling masterclass prior to the expo.
