PBBM requests LGU assistance with a booster vaccine drive.

In order to restart face-to-face education and completely reopen the economy, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ordered local government units (LGUs) to support the booster campaign rollout on Friday.

“I’m hoping you’ll help us get back to normal by contributing to the effort. In a virtual speech before recently elected governors and local mayors, Marcos remarked, “This is actually part of the effort to bring us back to normal.”

After testing positive for Covid-19, Marcos is currently being held in isolation.

In his speech, Marcos emphasized the need for face-to-face instruction for kids as well as the need to liberalize the economy by removing concerns about lockdowns being reinstated.

“Gawin natin itong booster rollout at makatiyak tayo [na] wala ng lockdown at ayaw na ayaw namin magkaroon ng lockdown,” the speaker said. It is true that this is how we would be making a counter for ourselves when shopping for Omicron and its variations, he informed local officials.

He congratulated them for their “very, very fine job” and encouraged them to assist agencies in duplicating the widespread Covid-19 vaccination distribution that was carried out last year.

Marcos wants LGUs to organize widespread vaccination campaigns for booster shots aimed at schoolchildren so that they can return to class in August or September without risk.

Sara Duterte, vice president and secretary of education, is planning a phased return to in-person instruction, according to Marcos, beginning with a two- or three-day weekly class schedule.

The government might permit kids to go back to full face-to-face education and open the rest of the economy if the major vaccination effort is a success, which, according to Marcos, might indicate to the rest of the globe that the Philippines is opening up for business.

The administration may also think about lowering the alert level and making disguising optional at the same time.

But given the current state of the safe and maliwanag, we cannot win with this. Although the takbo has been beautiful thus far, the hospitals are not yet fully operational. Mapupunta na naman tayo doon ngaunit kung hindi tayo maingat,” the President said.

The briefing presentation by the Department of the Interior and Local Government on LGU efforts on booster administration, the presentation by the Department of Education on the resume of face-to-face classes, and the Department of Health’s plan on vaccination mobilization are a few of the highlights of Friday’s event.
