Digitalization increases government effectiveness and the economy.

According to a Globe Telecom Inc. (Globe) official, the digitalization of government procedures would increase the effectiveness of the institution as a whole, ultimately reviving the economy of the nation.

The proposed e-governance law, a new attempt to pass a previous Senate measure on government digitalization that was stalled at the committee level in the 18th Congress, was welcomed by Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu.

“We support the transition of government to digital tools and procedures. This will hasten interactions with government organizations, from obtaining licenses and registration for businesses to obtaining paperwork required for enrollment in school or employment, according to Cu.

He stated that the Covid-19 pandemic made government digitalization urgently necessary and that the bill, introduced by Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez, will assist revitalize the economy.

“Digitalization makes it convenient and simple to complete everyday tasks. It avoids wasting time and effort waiting in long lines, which is incredibly unproductive, he noted.

He highlighted a report from the Department of Finance outlining how the introduction of electronic payment channels increased 2021 revenue collections for the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Bureau of Customs by PHP2.07 trillion and PHP647.77 billion, respectively.

We anticipate this bill’s advancement in Congress and are prepared to help the government achieve its complete goal of digitalization, he said.

The proposed E-Governance Act of 2022, which was primarily based on the previously submitted Senate Bill 1738, was filed last week by lawmakers as House Bill 3.
